Shinjuku Nomura Building

Constructed in the Shinjuku urban subcenter, this was Japan's first independently constructed super high-rise building, with five floors below ground and 53 floors above ground. It was Kumagai Gumi's first venture into the unfamiliar world of super high-rise buildings, and employees in the Architecture Division were both nervous and excited. Construction was completed in 1978, and served as a memorable event celebrating the 40-year anniversary of Kumagai Gumi's founding.
Kumagai Gumi's independent work gave proof both internally and externally of the high level of the company's construction technology, and the building has become the monumental work for Kumagai Gumi's Architecture Division.
