1961 Order to Construct Plover Cove Tunnel in Hong Kong

The government of Hong Kong planned a piped-water establishment project to resolve the severe water shortage Hong Kong was facing. It became Kumagai Gumi's first overseas construction project. In addition, it was also the first time that a Japanese construction company had gone overseas on a commercial basis.
That project opened the door to over a half century of Kumagai Gumi's involvement in construction of more than 60 structures in Hong Kong, thereby contributing to development of the local infrastructure.
