Delhi Mass Rapid Transport System Project Phase 1/2/3, in which Kumagai Gumi Co., Ltd. was involved as a leading partner of the Joint Venture for the construction, won the Technology Award (Group II) in Fiscal Year 2020 sponsored by Japan Society of Civil Engineers.

The Technology Award (Group II) is an award to innovative projects (including not only new construction projects but also renewal and renovation projects, etc.) that are recognized as a remarkable contribution to the development of civil engineering technology and contributing to the development of society.

Japan Society of Civil Engineers’ Award was established as the Civil Engineering Award in 1920, the sixth year since the foundation of the Society. Since then, the award system has been authoritative based on a tradition of more than 90 years, although there was an inevitable interruption between 1945 and 48 after World War II.

In Fiscal Year 2020, a total of 133 awards were selected in 19 categories including Achievement Awards, Technology Awards, etc. out of 268 applications that were the highest ever.

※ Kumagai Gumi Co., Ltd. was involved in 11-km long subway that ran north-south through the heart of Delhi, from the University of Delhi in the north of the city center to the government building in Delhi via Old Delhi. Kumagai Gumi’s Joint Venture constructed 4.5-km with 4 underground stations on the north side.
