This road tunnel is used as an artery that directly connects the National Road 423 (Shinmidosuji) bypass and Meishin Expressway 2 with the North Osaka area.
In the work, an unprecedented ultra-large cross section of the Osaka Group was cut through using the New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM) for soil, and computer aided construction using various auxiliary methods and measuring methods (underground and surface) was adopted.
