It was constructed with a side-advancing, center-swing type 3-tandem shield machine at Kiyosumi-shirakawa Station on the Tokyo Metro Hanzomon Line and the storage track there. It was the first time a 3-tandem shield was used to tunnel through soft ground, and the adoption of the RC segment also attracted attention.
